My Uniform

comfortable uniform

Do you have a go-to outfit? A daily uniform of sorts?

I went to a private school growing up, so wearing a uniform is a very familiar feeling, only now I don’t have to wear pleated skirts. These days my go-to uniform is comfortable jeans, a relaxed button down, converses, and a braid. Sometimes I get dressier for work, but if I get a choice, this is what I like to wear.

I like my hair down and curled, but most mornings I choose to sleep the few extra minutes and just throw it in a braid.

I got my jeans from Anthropologie (these aren’t the exact same ones, they’re not distressed, but they’re similar!) when they had a sale on their sale, and I’m so glad I did! They’re super comfortable. My button down is from Madewell (this isn’t the same one, it’s grey, but it’s also similar) and it hangs exactly like I like it- nice and loose. And my converses go with everything, so they’re an obvious pick for a go-to uniform.

I’d like to be the kind of girl whose uniform is high heels and a flowy dress, and I do love a pretty shoe and a nice dress, but my every day uniform leans more towards comfy-casual.

My dad used to always tell me that if you can look good in jeans and a white button down, you can look good in anything. I don’t know if that’s true, but it seems like I took his advice to heart because this is my favorite thing to wear.

…and my uniform is typically covered in dog hair, because a 60 lb. puppy who thinks he’s a lap dog is part of my uniform too.

And, I’m not the only one with a uniform! Matilda Kahl wears black slacks and a white blouse to work every day. She did a piece in Harpers Bazaar about it.

What about you? Do you also wear a uniform? If you do, wear did you get it? Are you an Anthro and Madewell person too? Or do you lean more towards places like Banana Republic or Ann Taylor?
